Jade | After 6 years of researching my own family, I have embarked on looking at the genealogy of a friend. I have John Clark, born c.1854 in Startforth, Yorkshire. His parents are Thomas Clark (c1829, Startforth) and Mary Ann Simonette (c1835, poss. baptised 1837, Richmond). I have Mary Ann living on the 1851 census with a sister Emma (c1830) and grandmother Mary (c1776). Grandmothers name is Simonette, so presumably is the father's mother. Mary Ann and Emma's parents are possibly William and Emma, but don't really know much more! She is a direct anscestor on both my mother and father's sides. My closer ancestors lived in Darnall Sheffield. I've only just discovered your site and find it fascinating.
